Happy to support the Happy Days Cambodian Village School

Acacia Insurance was pleased to sponsor a hole and attend the Happy Days Cambodian Village School Charity Golf Day on 5 March.

About Happy Days Cambodian Village School

Happy Days Cambodian Village School is an Australian Not-for-Profit Organisation which raises funds for impoverished children in a rural area of Cambodia. Their objective is to give the children in the area an opportunity to break the poverty cycle by improving their living conditions and teaching them to make informed decisions about their future through the power of education.

The Charity was started in 2012 by Mike and Suzanne Pawley after they visited Srey Vibol Ke, a school 18 kms outside of Siem Reap, the home of one of the wonders of the world, Angkor Wat.  It was their second visit to Cambodia, having been there a year earlier, and they were moved to action by what they saw.  They explain:

“We were awed by the rich culture and history of the country, however, we were equally affected by its people in rural areas who live in devastating poverty.  A people who have suffered so terribly at the hands of the Khmer Rouge during the Pol Pot Regime. This regime set the country back 50 years and the effects of this are widespread even today with more than 2 million people having died from starvation, overwork and executions, and those who survived suffer the effects of Post Traumatic Stress which is invariably passed on to their children.

Our charity has no running costs in Australia which allows every cent to get to where it is needed.”
